Jim joined Hobe & Lucas in 1991. He is proficient in taxes, mergers and acquisitions, succession planning, and litigation support. He provides personalized services to many privately held and family-owned businesses. Jim is also known as the firm’s “GAAP Guy,” offering expertise on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to ensure accurate financial reporting. He decided in college that “GAAP Guy” seemed a bit more fun than the chemist he originally thought he wanted to be.
Jim believes the key to success is collaboration and building genuine relationships. At Hobe & Lucas, he enjoys fostering a collaborative culture with everyone he interacts with, promoting teamwork, togetherness, and appreciation for the unique gifts of each individual. This strength in collaboration and respect for individual talent is just one reason for the long-term success of Hobe & Lucas. Beyond building a culture of collaboration, Jim has a knack for teaching and always takes the time to help others—both colleagues and clients—grasp complex concepts. He takes immense pride in treating each client like family, and his greatest professional achievement is the interpersonal relationships he has built with clients over the past thirty years. These meaningful relationships are founded on trust, dependability, and genuine care for others.
Few things in life make Jim as happy as compliance, collaboration, spreadsheets, and balanced books, but his family is certainly one of them. He values time spent with his wife and four adult children, each of whom he is very proud. Jim enjoys exploring the beautiful waters of Ohio and coastal North Carolina with his wife on their jet skis. He is also very active in his community, participating in various skill-based volunteer activities and giving back to causes he cares deeply about.
